Welcome to aSID magazine - 'a segue in the dust' !
aSID magazine is a collection of the arts that features young and amateur writers and photographers. In full support of emerging talent, this magazine addresses our modern need for a starting point.
Many young and amateur artists feel that there is no way to 'get out there' and have their voice heard. In many cases, this is absolutely true. Taking a creative piece into the cut-throat world of publishing can be very discouraging at times. Many publishers are not willing to work with the author/artist to modify or refine the piece to prepare it for publishing. The only time this sort of help is offered is after a work has been accepted, when the publisher can afford to spend some time refining a work that will be making both parties money. But, what about the art and the spirit behind the work? Putting effort into a piece of writing in order to make it more effective to a readership has more possible benefits than simply to make money for the author and publisher.
Here at aSID magazine, we believe that the visual and literary arts are an ever-shifting venture, one that should be filled with openness to growth, learning, and change. Our editors work with authors and artists in a workshopping environment to better enhance the creative process. We believe that by encouraging the new artists of today, we are indeed encouraging new ideas and fresh thoughts to flow into this world of mass-produced calendar art and pulp fiction racks. No matter the genre, there are always fresh, new books out there which inpsire young people and old people alike to love more deeply, live more fully, and embrace the beauty of life more openly. That is the goal which we wish to accomplish here.
By supporting aSID magazine you are indeed supporting all young and amateur artists who need a place to be recognized. We offer payment to our featured artists/writers and often commission work specifically for the magazine. As we who run the magazine are amateur artists/writers ourselves, we know how having a work rejected feels just as much as we know how good it feels to be sought out for one's creativity.
A subscription to aSID magazine only costs $1.75 per issue. We mail on a bi-weekly basis (twice a month) and do not send you advertisements in the mail. We have no ads in our magazines as we are entirely dependant upon subscriptions and donations to run the show, so you'll never have to look at coupons or commercials. We are %100 amateur art at its best.
aSID magazine is the fresh, cutting-edge, new place where you can find artists, writers, and photographers - such as yourself- in the spotlight. Subscribe or donate to aSID to support these young artists, as they are the future of the contemporary creative world. Believing in art is believing in free thought and beauty. Show your true colors!
